English Abstract
This study examines the measures taken by the Mexican government during Felipe Calderón's administration (2006-2012) to combat the pervasive drug-related issues within the country. Mexico presents a compelling case for investigation due to the numerous factors that contribute to the high levels of transnational organized crime, particularly in the realm of drug trafficking. The primary aim of this research is to describe the various strategies employed by the government to address these challenges. The analysis is guided by the Theory of Change, as outlined in "Identifying Approaches and Measuring Impacts of Programmes Focused on Transnational Organized Crime" (2014) by Tim Midgley, Ivan Briscoe, and Daniel Bertolli. This theoretical framework aids in understanding the approaches and impacts of Mexico's efforts during this critical period. The findings reveal the complexity and challenges faced by the Mexican government in its fight against powerful drug cartels, highlighting both the successes and limitations of Calderón's policies. This study contributes to the broader discourse on transnational organized crime and the ongoing efforts to mitigate its effects.
