Abstract
This study examines interpersonal perceptions between teachers and students in a special program school environment, focusing on interpersonal communication. The urgency of this study lies in the need to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special educational needs. This study aims to analyze interpersonal perceptions between teachers and students in a special program school environment. The researcher uses social penetration theory. Qualitative descriptive methods to explore interpersonal perceptions between teachers and students in a special program school environment. This researcher uses purposive sampling techniques to determine informants selected based on certain criteria to answer the researcher's objectives. The results of the study indicate that interpersonal perceptions of teachers and students at SLB PGRI Purwodadi are driven by direct communication, flexible communication according to students' special needs, and emotions carried by teachers. Teachers as agents of change in building empathetic closeness through interpersonal communication step by step. Parental assistance is also very important to strengthen positive interpersonal perceptions, which ultimately have an impact on motivation and the achievement of students' learning motivation.
