Abstract (Abstrak)
This research aims to analyze the gender inequality issue in the novel Fatherhood by Matthew Logelin. The events of the story will be categorized and discussed, with supporting facts drawn from various sources. The story describes the gender inequality and tragedy of losing a spouse. This research employed the structuralism approach, which focused on the intrinsic structure that builds the story. The intrinsic structure that are discussed namely characters and characterization, plot, setting, and theme. The research addresses the marginalization of men in society. The background of the story is set in the United States of America, which has a high prevalence of fatherless children. The research method uses by the writer is qualitative and descriptive analysis. The results of this study demonstrate that every gender has an equal chance of experiencing marginalization or other forms of gender inequality in society. This fact leads to an action of proving from the main character that every human being, regardless of gender, have the same opportunity to successfully raising kids well.
