Abstract
This study originated from the author’s interest in the figure of Anies
Baswedan and how the media, particularly Detik.com, frames news about him in
the context of the presidential election. The selection of this topic is based on the
observation that media often employs framing in its reporting. In this regard, the
study aims to analyze how Detik.com frames news related to Anies Baswedan
during the presidential election period. The population of this research consists of
news coverage on the presidential election from December 2023 to January 2024
on the online media platform Detik.com. The sample includes 15 news articles
categorized into five themes: regional campaign activities, responses to criticism,
debates and controversies, campaign strategies, vision and mission, and work
programs. This study applies the Pan and Kosicki framing model to describe how
Anies Baswedan is represented in Detik.com’s news coverage. The findings
reveal that Detik.com frames Anies Baswedan through ten positive
representations. He is portrayed as a figure who is close to all social groups,
optimistic, upholds honor and ethics, and is critical and proactive in addressing
societal needs. Additionally, Anies is depicted as receiving sincere public support,
prioritizing ideas in his campaign, understanding public needs, and being a
progressive leader. He is also framed as an open and courteous figure who
embodies the spirit of change. These findings indicate that Detik.com emphasizes
a positive image of Anies Baswedan, particularly regarding his closeness to the
public, optimism, ethics, and the spirit of change he promotes.
