Abstract
English Abstract
Pulau Lusi is a reclamation island in Sidoarjo Regency, formed due to the disposal of mud from the Sidoarjo Mudflow into the Porong River since 2006. Pulau Lusi has now developed into a mangrove ecotourism area as well as a mangrove conservation center with a total area of 175.34 hectares. This study aims to analyze the suitability index for the mangrove ecotourism area based on the distribution of mangrove density, mangrove species, mangrove thickness, tidal patterns, and the presence of biota objects, as well as to produce an ecotourism suitability map for Pulau Lusi. The method used for data analysis is descriptive quantitative. Spatial analysis was carried out with the support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method. Primary data were obtained through field measurements at 13 observation points spread across Pulau Lusi, while secondary data were obtained from Sentinel-2A satellite imagery and literature studies. The results of the study show that the average mangrove density on Pulau Lusi is 1746 individuals/ha, classified as very dense according to the classification by Rahman et al. (2019). The distribution of mangrove density categorized as very dense covers 88.4% of the total area of Pulau Lusi. Based on the analysis of the Tourism Suitability Index (IKW), 3.9% (6.78 hectares) of the area is classified as highly suitable, 38.3% (67.15 hectares) is classified as suitable, and 57.8% (101.41 hectares) is classified as conditionally suitable. The highly suitable area is located in the northwest, while the conditionally suitable category is dominant in the central and southern parts. These findings reflect that most of the mangrove area on Pulau Lusi has significant potential for tourism development.
