Abstract
The Klego area, Pekalongan City, is often affected by flooding due to high rainfall, rising sea levels, and an inadequate drainage system. To address this issue, a water pump system is used as one of the solutions in flood control in the Klego area. This study aims to analyze the performance of the water pump system in the area, by analyzing pump capacity, channel capacity, and system reliability in extreme weather conditions. Rainfall data from four nearby rainfall stations were combined in the design flood discharge modeling analyzed using HEC-RAS software. The results of the study showed that the capacity of the channels and water pump systems in the area were unable to cope with the design flood discharge (Q25) of 14,188 m3/s. However, based on the existing conditions, the channel is still able to accommodate the discharge without overflow. Therefore, the flooding that still occurs in the Klego area is not caused by the inability of the pump system or its channels, but from the lateral channels leading to the channel which are not distributed properly, and even though the condition of the lateral channels is well distributed, the capacity of the existing channels and pumps is unable to cope with the design flood discharge.
